More humiliation...

Mom continues to doll me up in all sorts of crap...today it was a new hat that covers my ears when we're out on a walk. I must admit that I looked pretty handsome though...

BOO!

Happy Halloween everybody! Here is my first outfit of the day...Mom bought the pumpkin T-shirt and we've paired it with kickin' jeans that Hal and Allison sent and a pair of socks that Carissa and Chris gave to me...I'm was looking way cute on the Halloween blankie that Grandpa got. However, a couple of hours later, I made my comment on Mom and Dad's decision not to let me go trick-or-treating by tinkling out of my diapee onto my shirt. Oh well. You'll be able to see my other Halloween outfit that grandma got for me in just a little bit since I'm going to change into my sleeper as soon as I wake up from my nap in the swing...Tim Gunn (from one of Mom's fave shows -- Project Runway) would be proud that I'm so stylish. By the way...a big shout out to Grandma...it's her birthday today! Yay...I can't believe I have a Grandma that is only 29 when my mom is 34...amazing!

Cuteness

Bunking in Gold Bar with Grandpa

I made my first overnight trip yesterday to Grandpa's house where I met Lucky the dog. My crying didn't make him too happy at first, but he seems to be over it and we're on our way to being good buddies

.

Oh, baby!

On Saturday afternoon Mom, Dad and I hosted our birthing class reunion, where I got to meet my new friends, Dori Lu and Elspeth. Their parents, Karin and Scott and Laurel and Evan, came in addition to our teacher, Tracy. We had lots of fun and I am looking forward to getting together again soon! Next time I won't give Laurel a hard time while she is holding me...but she did a good job of calming me down with a little miracle hold.

Just a swangin'

I've got a little ways to go until I'm swangin' on the front porch, but at least I'm finally enjoying my fab indoor swing! This is the first time I fell asleep in it and actually enjoyed myself...I'm such a big boy now doing such big boy things! Dad doesn't know what he's missing...watching the World Series is nothing compared to how fab this swing is!

By the way...we're missing a post since the pictures of me with Granny Jess are on her camera...I hope that she'll email one to Mom so that she can post a picture of us on my blog! We had a great visit while she was here!

Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am...

Look at all of these silly things around me on my activity mat! I've really been getting into hanging out on it the past few days, although I didn't give Mom as many smiles today when she had the camera out...hey, I'm saving my best looks for the paparazzi when I'm a famous movie star or athlete...I'm not wasting them on you clowns! If you wanna see my closeup, just click on the pics to make them bigger...

My first tubby!

No, Mom and Dad have not been keeping me as a festy little infant...I've been getting sponged off with little Mustela cloths since I haven't been able to have a real bath thanks to a) my "umbilical stub" and b) my "snip-snip" on my pee-pee. Anyway, I was finally able to hit Spa Millnon's luxurious porcelain sink bath...complete with an overweight woman scrubbing me...it kind of reminded me of one of those eastern European salt scrubs you read about in Budget Travel. I actually enjoyed it though...however, I think the water could be a tad warmer next time since I got a little chilly toward the end of things. Mom's good friend Mary Margaret and her family sent me the cool bath mitt and a towel to match.

Cruisin'...no, not like a Scientologist

We'll leave the wacky stuff up to Suri Cruise, but anyway, we went on our first walk this afternoon. The skies were a little gray, but I was all bundled up and cozy. Mom thought I'd like checking out the trees, but alas, I just slept through the whole trek.

It's not Caesars Palace, but we had a weigh in

Today Mom and Dad took me to see Dr. L. for my 2-week weight check. I am a solid 11lbs. 6oz. and am 22 inches long...essentially I'm ready for the heavyweight championships for newborns. Check out a few pictures from our adventure!

My favorite thing today...

...was sleep! I hung out on the sofa nearly all day today with Mom...snoozing is what I do best right now. Unfortunately for Mom and Dad, I've perfected this art during the day so I can party all night.

East meets West

Auntie Fress, Uncle Mark and Hunter came for a visit from New York over Columbus Day weekend...we had a great time hanging out at the house! Fortunately they had a chance to get out to buy some goodies in Seattle and visit the sculpture park. I wish I could have gone to the sculpture park, too, but Mom thought the weather was too nasty for me to go out.

Lounging in style

I'm wondering who took away the remote and my bottled cocktail??? I've got my stylin' lounger from my Auntie Heather and Auntie Melissa...now I just need the other tools that are vital to channel surfing! I did have on a great onesie that they gave to me, too, but unfortunately there was a diaper blowout before anyone could take a picture.

Catching a snooze

I decided it was time to recharge my batteries this afternoon and in the process I gave Mom a little bit of a chance to wash my bottles, my clothes, my sheets, etc., etc. For a little guy, I sure can generate a lot of washing!

Visits from both Grandma and Grandpa

Grandma came all the way from Virginia to see me right after I was born. She was able to spend 11 days with us and helped Mom and Dad out so much by allowing them to get a little sleep and by showing them the ropes of baby care. Grandpa has been here to see me, too! He wanted to stop by sooner, but he had a nasty cold that he picked up fishing and he didn't want to pass on to me. I can't wait to go fishing with him one of these days!

Extra, extra...

I made it! I'll let you read what Dad said about my arrival since I think he said it best in his news story for friends and family:

SEATTLE -- He's here! Finally!

Almost two weeks after his due date, Rowan Alden Miller was born at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, at Swedish Medical Center.

This blond, beautiful, bruising and boisterous future financial supporter of his parents tipped the scales -- quite literally -- at 10 pounds., 1.6 ounces, and measured 21 1/4 inches.

Everything went smoothly and everyone is doing great.

Unbeknownst to his mother but much to his father's pleasure, the radio switched from Blondie's "The Tide is High" to Bill Withers' "Lean On Me" about a minute before his birth. The kid's got good taste.

Rowan will surely go on to great things, like the other giants among men born on Sept. 21: Leonard Cohen, H.G. Wells, Bill Murray, Stephen King, heck, even Larry Hagman.

We won't tell him that Darva Conger, Ricki Lake and Nicole Richie also were born on this day. He already eats more than Nicole, anyway.

Here are a few photos of our not-so-little guy!

Talk to you all soon.

Love,

Katie and Doug

I'm being evicted!

Yes, it's true...Dr. J. gave me an eviction notice today when she told Mom and Dad they could come in on Friday for Mom to be "induced" (wink, wink) since there isn't a scheduled OR available. I'm coming out via c-section, and although we don't have a time nailed down, it's definitely happening Friday...whhheeeeeee!

Looks like we're in the 33%

Well, we had another non-stress test today, and I'm groovy where I am. Mom asked to have a c-section, hopefully on Wednesday afternoon, which proves that 33% of women do indeed have c-sections. ..there were two other ladies in our baby class who have both delivered the "normal" way, so we're doing our part to keep the statisticians in business! We'll keep you all posted in the coming days!

We got tired of looping the Jeopardy music...

Well, we went back to the doc today, five days into OT. Mom got hooked up to the fetal monitor for a non-stress test (NST) to find out that I'm happy as a clam where I am and she isn't doing anything to evict me any time soon. We're scheduled to go back on Monday for another NST, and then will see Dr. J. on Wednesday. One way or another, I'll be out to meet you guys by next Friday, 9.21!

Insert Final Jeopardy music here...

Everyone will have to wait a bit longer for me to show up. We went to the doctor again today and things were the same as last week, so we'll go see Dr. J. again next Thrusday to see what she has to say. We'll keep y'all posted!

Curtains finally hung

Well, Mom finally got my curtains and mobile hung. I even have a rocking chair that was hers when she was little. You can tell from the pictures that she and Dad still have some organization to finish up, but that should get better once our nice contractor, John, puts one more shelf in the closet for us. Our best bud and very talented friend, Kim, made the piece of art over the shelves...isn't it great?! Mom will have to shoot a detail picture of it later... My Great Aunt Leta is going to make some more sheets for me just as soon as a template gets in the mail to her...we're very excited about that! My rug still isn't here...but hopefully it'll beat me to the room.

Speaking of...we went to the doctor today and she doesn't want to jump the gun and let me out quite yet even though I'm a big guy. We'll go see her again next week if I don't decide to make a grand entrance before then. Happy Labor Day weekend!

Awaiting Rowan's arrival

Today Mom and Dad had their last ultrasound and learned that I am a whopping 9lbs. 13oz. (+/- 10%) with another week and a half to bake in the oven. Woohoo...I'm a big, strapping lad!
